Here is a link to my friend Neil's site where he describes the sharpening of various tools.
I recently purchased a Patternmaker's Vise. It is an outstanding addition to my shop. It makes working on the neck much easier than a regular woodworking vise and various homemade fixtures. It gets the work up off the bench, the whole vise rotates, plus the jaws swivel to hold odd shaped objects (like banjo necks.)
